The other day I asked myself, “what would I need to know if I was back at the beginning of my confidence journey?” The answer was… a lot! I’ve spent the greater half of the last decade working on myself and that has included shifting from a Shy Girl to a Wildly Confident & Capable woman. As a coach and influencer in the personal development space, I felt like I needed to make an easy entrance into the vast park that is personal development, especially for all my Shy ladies out there. I wanted to give you all a clear & concise resource for “step 1.”
I have NOT always considered myself to be confident. In fact, just a couple of years ago I felt like a complete fraud. I was the girl who would workout and instagram all the photos in my sweet new Nike gear… but I still was not confident in my own body image. I was getting promotion after promotion at work, yet I felt like I constantly had to prove my worthiness and it wouldn’t be long until they “found out” I was as average as I feared myself to be.
When your journey of learning is comprised of mostly experiences, let me tell you there is A LOT of trial and error. There’s a lot of messy-figure-it-out moments and there’s a lot of up and downs. Don’t get me wrong, I have learned a significant amount from others: mentors, coaches, books, speakers, etc. But the biggest lessons have come from my own experiences and the pavement I’ve laid down in the making.
